William J. Cagle is a speculative fiction writer, editor, and educator currently based in San Francisco, CA.

He holds an MFA in Speculative Fiction from Sarah Lawrence College and a B.A. in Creative Writing and Anthropology from Columbia University.

His writing centers the climate crisis and disability justice. He has been a left hand amputee since the age of seven.

He serves as the Managing Speculative Fiction Editor for Variant Literature, where he reads and edits with an eye for the literary, character-driven, and bizarre.
