Bio
William J. Cagle was born and raised in Bowling Green, Ohio surrounded by corn and books, though he is currently based in San Francisco, California where he lives in the Presidio with the frogs, and coyotes, and owls, and a cat named Peanut Butter..
He graduated in 2020 from Columbia University in the City of New York with a BA in Creative Writing and a BA in Anthropology, and received an MFA in Speculative Fiction from Sarah Lawrence College in 2023. He has taught both Humanities and Creative Writing at Ramapo College of New Jersey and currently teaches History and English at Headlands Preparatory School in Sausalito, CA.
He is the cowriter of Season 3 of the climate science podcast A Matter of Degrees, produced by FRQNCY Media He is an omnivorous reader with a deep interest in tabletop games, archaeology, sit-coms, environmentalism, and Shakespeare.
His first publication, “The Prince in the Tower,” was published by Ember: A Journal of Luminous Things in 2016, and later produced by Audible as an audiobook. He has also been published by Quarto, Columbia’s literary magazine.
