Bio

William J. Cagle was born and raised in Bowling Green, Ohio surrounded by corn and books, though he now finds himself somehow washed up in the Bay Area, California.

He graduated in 2020 from Columbia University in the City of New York with a BA in Creative Writing and a BA in Anthropology, and received an MFA in Speculative Fiction from Sarah Lawrence College in 2023. He has taught both Humanities and Creative Writing at Ramapo College of New Jersery

He is the cowriter of Season 3 of the climate science podcast A Matter of Degrees and the pilot season of Not Alone with Valeria Lipovetsky podcast, both produced by FRQNCY Media He is an omnivorous geek with a deep interest in tabletop games, archaeology, sit-coms, environmentalism, and Shakespeare.

His first publication, “The Prince in the Tower,” was published by Ember: A Journal of Luminous Things in 2016, and later produced by Audible as an audiobook. He has also been published by Quarto, Columbia’s literary magazine. Currently, he is working on revising a trilogy of fantasy novels — part of an ongoing world-building project.
